WHO chief ties funding cuts to Ebola, hantavirus outbreaks

Recent outbreaks of hantavirus and Ebola are tied to ‘steep and sudden’ funding cuts to the World Health Organization, the WHO chief and other UN leaders have told members of the annual World Health Assembly in Geneva. The WHO’s biggest donor, the US, ceased funding under the Trump administration in January 2025.
