Street Style: Black Beauties At London’s 60th Notting Hill Carnival

Carnival is a universal love language for many. No matter where in the world the event is taking place, you can expect Caribbean music booming from the speakers, flavorful food, colorful, bold costumes, and endless vibes. Notting Hill Carnival, specifically, took place over the weekend in West London, UK. This year was extra special because the iconic outoor celebration marked its 60th carnival, and around two million people flooded the streets to mark the occasion. 

Known as Europe’s largest street festival, Notting Hill Carnival has been taking place since 1966 (there was an indoor alternative dating back to 1959). It’s a celebration of Caribbean heritage that brings people from all socioeconomic backgrounds, ethnicities, and races together.

If you haven’t yet experienced carnival, you have many to choose from, including the acclaimed ones that take place in Trinidad and Tobago, St. Lucia, Jamaica, Miami, Brazil, and, of course, Notting Hill.
